Lookahead Line is a reminder that pain and anguish are imminent when Kentucky plays Tennessee
Wikipedia tells me that Buck Owens is from Texas. I could be sure he was a Kentucky football fan who had seen too many Tennessee games.
“If it weren’t for the bad luck, I wouldn’t have any luck at all. Gloom, despair and torment lie upon me.”
Big Blue Nation is in a bad place right now after six straight SEC losses at Kroger Field. They’ll be even worse for wear if Kentucky doesn’t make it against Auburn on Saturday night. If a win cures all ills, playing at Neyland Stadium is like sharing a toothbrush with a snotty toddler. You’re going to get sick, how bad is that?
Tennessee is in the middle of a bye week after beating Alabama on the third Saturday in October. The good folks at FanDuel are still offering volunteer fans the opportunity to bet on their favorite team. The early forecast line is Tennessee -14.5 over Kentucky. The total is 46.5.
Tennessee only has one loss, but they’re not who we thought they were. After scoring more than 50 points in three non-conference games, the Vols failed to surpass the 25-point mark against an SEC opponent. Instead of announcing it, they relied on RB Dylan Sampson – 119.7 yards per game and 17 touchdowns, both tops in the SEC – and the best defense in the Josh Heupel Epoch.
Kentucky doesn’t have to win a shootout to beat Tennessee. The problem is the logo on the helmet. This Giant T rarely loses to Kentucky. A 38-year-old Kentucky fan has only been alive through three Wildcat victories over the Vols and just one at Neyland Stadium.
No matter how good or bad things go in Lexington, this place is a house of horrors for Kentucky fans, which is why it’s appropriate that this game is played two days after Halloween.
