KAA Gent is fined by UEFA and ordered to pay for the damage to Stamford Bridge
Earlier this month, Chelsea hosted KAA Gent in our first ever UEFA Conference League league stage game. On the pitch things went smoothly for the boys (despite some stupid mistakes) and they won 4-2. Things weren’t quite the same off the field.
After the dust settled and everyone went home, fairly significant damage was discovered in the visitors’ area: chairs were ripped out and scattered and several banners were torn down and torn to shreds (including those of Gianfranco Zola and Bobby Tambling).
Ghent were fined €40,000 by UEFA after their fans caused damage to Stamford Bridge earlier this month. The Belgian club also has to cover Chelsea’s costs for repairs to the away end

The matchday photographer even captured a decidedly rude Gent fan striking the pose of our caveman ancestors.
In a somewhat surprising twist, according to reports yesterday, KAA Gent has apparently been ordered to pay for the damage caused by its fans, in addition to being fined €40,000 by UEFA.
So that’s pretty nice. Maybe you can also take part in the renovation?
