Bret Holmes Racing announces the closure of the NASCAR Truck Series team, effective immediately
A little unfortunate news. Bret Holmes Racing has closed operations effective immediately with only three races remaining this year. The NASCAR organization made the announcement this afternoon.
2020 ARCA Menards Series Champion Bret Holmes has been doing his own thing for a few years now. For the past four years, he has raced part-time and full-time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
The journey is over for Bret Holmes Racing. However, Holmes himself is still looking for driving opportunities for 2025. It simply won’t be under his own banner.
“Bret Holmes Racing made the difficult decision today to close our doors and will not return to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for the 2024 or 2025 season,” the team said in a statement.
“To all of our fans, sponsors, friends, families – and especially our team – we thank you for the support and commitment you show BHR every step of the way. We thank each and every one of you for the role you played in making each race day unforgettable.
“Following the closure of BHR, Bret Holmes would like to continue racing in the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.”
Bret Holmes has overcome a lot in his racing career. It’s not easy to act and race for your own organization. ARCA is full of heavyweights at the top and its 2020 championship was a moment where the little guys in modern racing came into their own for once.
While BHR is closing, Holmes could end up somewhere for 2025. At 27 years old, he still has a lot of racing ahead of him if he finds the right opportunities.
Bret Holmes Racing finishes ahead of Homestead-Miami
It’s no surprise that a small team like this would fold after three and two full-time seasons. However, it is a shock to see Bret Holmes Racing fold with three races to go in the season. The Truck Series is currently training and qualifying at Homestead-Miami.
Drivers only have three chances to win this season. Two more chances for playoff drivers to secure a place in Championship 4 in Phoenix. Holmes wasn’t involved in this championship hunt, but it’s still surprising that the team is pulling the plug at this point.
The NASCAR world is currently wondering whether Corey Heim or Christian Eckes will become Truck Series champion. On the other hand, there are six other drivers who will try to prevent one of them from achieving this goal.
Hopefully, no matter who makes it to Championship 4, we get a better race than in 2023. Phoenix was a mess in the Truck Series a year ago, and a repeat of that would be a disaster.
