Broncos teammate disturbed after Josh Reynolds shoots in strip club incident

According to Broncos head coach Sean Payton, Josh Reynolds was “pretty shaken” after he was shot in Denver last week.

“Josh Reynolds was involved in a very serious incident last week. … I’m a little like you in that I have the first details … He’s lucky,” Payton said Friday. “I had a chance to talk to him. He was pretty confused and I’ll leave it at that.”

The news hit Broncos left tackle Garett Bolles particularly hard.

“Definitely a crazy situation where we could have lost one of our teammates in an incident like that,” Bolles said, according to 9News in Denver. “I love Josh. I’m super close to him. I don’t want to say too much about it because I know it’s up to the authorities here in Denver to address the situation and hope that justice is served for the people involved in the incident, but I’ll just be thankful.”

Reynolds was reportedly shot twice – once in the back of the head and once in his left arm – after leaving a Denver-area strip club early last Friday morning.

He and two other men were reportedly chased and shot at while driving a blue Ford Bronco.

Another man was shot in the back and a third victim was injured by broken glass.

Reynolds left the same venue, Shotgun Willie’s, where Grizzlies star Ja Morant infamously brandished a firearm in a private room with a stripper on a livestream.

The victims said there were no problems inside the strip club.

On Wednesday, Denver police announced that suspects Burr Charlesworth and Luis Mendoza were arrested in connection with the case and are being investigated for attempted murder and assault.

The eight-year NFL veteran signed a two-year, $9 million contract with the Broncos in the offseason.

In five games this season, Reynolds has 12 catches for 183 yards with one touchdown.

He has been on injured reserve since Week 5 after breaking his finger in a game against the Raiders.
